Visit Japan year 2010

This week, my evaluation resource is based on a "Dream Holiday" theme, whereby i get to choose which country to visit and also discuss on the criteria of the evaluation.

I have chosen Japan to be my "Dream Holiday"as it is a childhood dream for me to visit there for the nice scenery etc. The criteria i have used to choose my "Dream Holiday" from the website, is the coverage. The website provides the ability to search by area, ranging from a variety of choices of places to choose from, starting from Hokkaido, the place famous for its variety of fresh seafood. Hence, i praised the website for its wide coverage of information.

One of the places i wouldnt miss is the Takino Suzuran Hillside Park, there are many beautiful flowers surrounding the park and it is considered as one of the natural attractions of Japan.

The other place i wouldnt miss is the unique Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe. The bridge linking to the marine park has a river surrounding it.

This week's activity is a follow up from last week's Practical 4&5.

I am about to write a report compiling of all the search engines, subject directory and meta search engine that i used to research on my topic and comparing them in terms of usefulness to my topic.

I have posted on the science forum about my topic asking for opinions and views from people all over the world.

Nov 24th!

Last week's e-learning activity's attendance will be taken by the screen captures of the Second Life activity, interacting with the students from HKPolyU Campus.

This week's lesson covers on the new web search , meta search engine and subject directory etc. Meta crawler is a search engine has a different interface than of google, as it crawls for information and sites from other search engines such as google, yahoo etc.

The subject directory gives a lot of information based on categories, and the size of the information found is rather compact in size. It was created by professionals and it is sorted in alphabetical order.

The two new search engines are rather good, as i have more choices to choose from, to narrow down to the information that i require.

Site feeds allows one to enter another website easily, or blog, etc. It provides more accessibility to enter the website without typing in the URL yourself.

About collaborating on wiki with friends that is on the same topic as me, would be learning more from them and also get more information from them.

E-Learning Activity at HKPolyU Campus.

Logged onto Second Life at night to interact with a HKPolyU student, it was rather an interesting activity as we get to know what the country's famous shopping sites were, and what the people there likes to do. My new friend at Second Life is rather friendly, and we get to know one another's hobby, our course in school and also what we like to do in our favourite past time.

After getting to know this friend, i am excited to know that i have know a new friend overseas, logging on to an interactive game same as me. And to know their shopping habits and what they interested in.

Today's activity is about posting comments on my views of life without Internet.

I felt good to post comments about my views as it is a good way to share my personal opinions freely on the forum. I can express my views freely and also know what the other's opinions are.

For the traditional face to face in class discussion, we would not say things that we actually meant, because we tend to be shy around classmates and friends.

While in the discussion forum, we are able to speak out our mind. We can share experiences freely in the forum, and also learn from the other's opinions too.

This activity is very meaningful, as we get to know a lot of people's opinions and also share information with one another on the importance of the Internet. Internet indeed is a very useful tool to get knowledge and also make friends. It has become a very common thing among the public, even in Singapore. Today, Internet is able to amaze us with its vast knowledge of technology.

2nd part of the activity; Activity 4 of Prac 3 ~

I'm impressed with google.com's search function and also the time taken to find the resource that i require. It shortens alot of time taken to research and also allow me to narrow down to the exact information that i seeking for.

I felt very excited about participating in the online discussion forum, as it allows me to speak freely of my opinions and share with everyone else in the forum. It also helps me to gain more knowledge by seeing what others opinions are. It may also somehow helpful to my research as the tips are somehow given here and there by people willingly. I do not feel anxious when talking to others that i do not know, but i felt rather excited to know new friends through it.

Citation & bibliography must be done to acknowledgment someone's work and also their efforts & time to it. Acknowledging them is very important as we have to respect their work and not claim it as ours when it is not done by us. :)

E-Shopping For the win!

Now i have $500 to spend with, so i can buy anything that i want but with this budget.

I found this phone on ebay and i am interested in it.

Reasons that i chose this phone out of many out there:

- Blackberry has always been my ideal phone over apple iphone, due to it's more unique features and complex functionalities.

- Not many people in singapore is holding blackberry phones which makes it rather unique in the public, iphone seems to be very common nowadays.

I am glad the phone falls below the budget of $500, and it looks so brand new, so it is a good catch for people out there that wants a very classy phone.

What did i learn for today:

Internet have made our lives in society easier, with all the source of information flowing around, we are able to find information and get them easily. As the technology advances, we could use the internet for several purposes, example ; people create blogs so that they could share their daily experience with other people, and some people blog to advertise on their business with the product catalogs all over the blog to attract potential customer to buy stuff there.

E-magazine is available so that people does not have to step out of their house while using the net to subscribe for the latest information we could get.

Some professionals would post their tutorials online so that people can get them easily and learn new things through the internet.

Internet is alot wider now and alot of resources can be found there!

Introduction of myself and welcome!

Hi everyone ! My name is Chew Wei and you can call me Chris , I am from Engineering School, Diploma in information & communication.

I like to surf youtube(www.youtube.com), facebook and also listen to music like k-pop and also mostly english songs,

and reading of manga sometimes during my free time. One of my favourite k-pop group is super-junior, and the song that they sang and dance well is sorry sorry.

I don't usually watch tv programmes as most of the time i'm at home, i will be surfing the net or doing something else.

I enjoy chilling out with friends at places like Selegie Road's Rochor Beancurd, Carls Jr at east coast park, and also go to further places by car(my friend drives so i tag along =)) to spend time with them(closer friends) at night.

When i m feeling bored, i like to visit http://www.facebook.com/ to see my friend's status update and also try out some mini games such as restaurant city, cafe world etc.

I also spend some time reading manga at http://www.manmankan.com/ and also checking on http://www.stomp.com.sg for recent news happening in singapore.

My favourite hobby currently is cycling, i love to cycle at east coast park, as the sea breeze is so cooling and also the feeling of cycling from one end to the other is so thrilling. I usually cycle with my friends in the weekends at east coast park. I am glad i learn cycling this year and worked well with it =).
